Are you passionate about animal welfare? As a Dog Welfare Specialist, you’ll have the unique opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of guide dogs and their owners.

You’ll ensure the highest standards of dog welfare by working directly with guide dog owners, volunteers, and veterinary teams. You'll provide hands-on support, promote ethical care practices, and ensure every dog receives the care they deserve.

You’ll be responsible for conducting welfare assessments, maintaining health records, and collaborating with local vets to ensure timely treatment for our dogs. Plus, you’ll contribute to shaping health policies, enhancing dog welfare practices, and building professional networks to improve regional veterinary care.

If you’re ready to make a lasting difference and advance your career in animal welfare, we want to hear from you!

Candidate profile

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Vocational qualification in canine health and welfare (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent), and two ‘A’ levels (one in biological or social science) or relevant experience.
  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the role which involves transporting dogs. In the absence of a full valid UK Driving License, you will be expected to demonstrate how you will fulfil this aspect of the role via alternative means.
  • Proven experience working with dogs in a professional setting and collaborating with veterinary professionals.
  • Experience in supervising, teaching, or mentoring others, with a track record of successful outcomes.
  • Knowledge of canine health conditions and their management.
